Don Ernesto Escobar Pallares

The corporate group was created in 1952, when Mr. Ernesto Escobar Pallares decided to embark on the maritime activity by accepting a proposal put forth by the Anglo American Oilfields, to purchase the vessel “Catalina”; later named “Catalina”. Thus he began his activities as a shipbuilder of vessels for maritime transport of hydrocarbon derivates.

By 1955, with the inclusion of the T/V Margarita (previously Buaro), the group already had two vessels and a transport capacity of 200,000 gallons.

Both vessels were destined to the transport of residues as well as of clean products from the Anglo Ecuadorian Oilfields Terminal in La Libertad, the South Anglo deposit in Guayaquil. On occasion, the vessels would carry out trips to the Talara Refinery in Peru to transport aviation fuel or other derivates required by that country.

Through the strategic association with the English company Furness Withy & Company; the groups’ businesses started to participate actively in the import and supply of liquefied petroleum gas from 1994 until the year 2,000. This operation, which was transcendental for the development of the country’s energy sector, used the services of the B/G Darwin of 40,000 MT of capacity as a floating warehouse, while the vessels B/G Ayangue and Ancon of 2,000 MT in capacity each, were used as gas unloading vessels taking the product to the gas terminal located at El Salitral.

Throughout the organization’s long trajectory as hydrocarbon transporters for important energy sectors, such as the state oil entity in the country and the thermal energy generating plants located in Guayaquil, the group acquired and operated 22 vessels of different capacities and origin, which made our organization the most solid, prestigious and recognized national maritime group.

In mid 1995, continuing with the activities of expansion and diversification of the organization, when the internal commercialization of hydrocarbons was liberalized, Transfuel was qualified as a hydrocarbon commercializing company to tend to the needs of the national and international naval sectors as well as the industrial sector. While carrying out these commercial activities, the group has been characterized by its permanent commitment to satisfy our customer’s expectations, through a firm adhesion to the most demanding quality parameters in its commercial management and for which aim the group has its oen quality control laboratory located in La Libertad.

From the start of its activities, the organization based its expansion and development on solid principles and ethical values, which has allowed for the group to last through time and to be consolidated as an organization geared towards achieving its business mission and with a great social responsibility towards all its stakeholders.
